Gestalt Chroma, the exhibition title, draws from a perceptual theory that emphasises the whole being greater than the sum of its parts. When experiencing the wall sculptures for example (pictured), an illusion known as the moiré effect is at play. Perception of movement is created by the interference of light by layered networks of lines. It happens whenever a repetitive structure, such as mesh, is overlaid with another similar structure. Because of this, the works are in a constant state of change depending on light, viewing position and the space that surrounds them. They are infinite in this respect, never appearing the same in any two scenarios.
