KIM WESTCOTT: Select Works

10 November - 24 December 2019
Overview

Kim Westcott is celebrated as one of Australia’s foremost printmakers. In the early parts of 1996, Kim worked from a studio in Sorrento using the unique coastal landscape as inspiration. In Kim’s words “The tea-trees and the she-oaks are affected by harsh climatic conditions of the coastal environment, so you have these wild, eccentric, twisted tree forms. I saw the branches as lines and the leaves as dots. Once I started drawing these twisted forms, I understood their real appeal. It was the repetition of image that was to create a new intensity of both image and colour in my work”. This exhibition is attributed to this phase of Kim’s career and features several key works characteristic of this phase.
