MELBOURNE ART FAIR 2026
19 - 22 FEB
MELBOURNE EXHIBITION AND CONVENTION CENTRE
Colour does not exist as a fixed surface. It exists as a spatial condition, produced through movement, distance, and orientation. Atmostrata treats colour as an atmospheric structure rather than an image, something encountered physically rather than observed passively.
Constructed from acrylic and aluminium, the works depend on the presence of the viewer. The sprayed surfaces retain the mechanics of their making. Pigment is suspended, dispersed, and arrested mid-motion, embedding painterly marks within the material. As bodies move through space, colour separates, overlaps, and recombines, producing chromatic variance that evolves as it is experienced. No static view exists; colour only resolves momentarily before shifting again.
The works change with light, angle, and proximity, asserting the audience not as viewers but as spatial variables. Perception is not represented; it is enacted.
Atmostrata positions colour as an environmental force. An unstable, layered element inseparable from the conditions in which it is experienced.
