Motunrayo Akinola (1992) is a sculptor and installation artist. His work explores themes of class, access and a sense of belonging. The work, made primarily from cardboard, tape and shellac; considering an architectural sensitivity to our current social environment, is part of a post-colonial dialogue guided by conversations of care, collective memory and politics of hierarchy.
Motunrayo Akinola holds a 1st Class BA (Hons) in Fine Arts from the University of East London, 2017 and completed his postgraduate diploma at the Royal Academy of Arts, London, 2023. Recent residencies include the South London Gallery Postgraduate Residency, London, 2024; High House Artist Residency, Norfolk, 2024.
